Install Floatlet

Run the EXE directly

The main download is Floatlet.exe. Save it in a folder you want to keep, then run it. This standalone download does not install itself or create a startup entry. For startup and a managed installation, use the ZIP below.

Install with startup

Choose ZIP with installation scripts on the download page and extract it into a folder. The archive contains Floatlet.exe, the MIT license, release notes and installation scripts.

Try it without installing

Run Floatlet.exe from the extracted folder. The app appears above your desktop and in the Windows system tray, without a taskbar or Alt+Tab entry.

Install for your Windows user

Open PowerShell in the extracted folder and run:

.\install.ps1 -AcceptDefaults -Launch

New installs start with Windows by default. On an upgrade, pass -EnableStartup to explicitly enable startup. Add -NoStartup to opt out. Existing installations keep their startup preference. If Windows blocks a script, inspect it and follow your organisation's approved software policy. Do not disable security features.

Find your way around

• Hover for a compact preview, then click to open.
• Music, Tray, Controls and Clock live inside the expanded island.
• Leave an unpinned panel to return to the compact view. Pin preserves the panel.
• The gear opens preferences. Right-click or the system tray menu offers more actions.
• Ctrl+Shift+F12 opens and Ctrl+Alt+H hides or shows, when those shortcuts are available. Conflicts are handled silently.

Optional Google Calendar

In Google Calendar, find your calendar's Settings, then Integrate calendar, then Secret address in iCal format. Paste it directly into Floatlet's Preferences. Treat this address as a password. Do not send it in an issue or screenshot.

Double-click a day for its read-only agenda. Windows DPAPI encrypts the stored subscription link for your user.

Calendar reminders

Open Preferences, Connect Google Calendar, then follow the three steps. The link is private and stays encrypted for your Windows user. The feed refreshes about once per minute while Floatlet is running. Timed events trigger a pop-out reminder within five minutes of their start. Google may take longer to publish edits into its subscription feed. All-day events do not trigger five-minute reminders.

Multiple calendars

In Preferences, open Google Calendar. Paste a private Google iCal link and choose Add calendar. Repeat for up to eight calendars, then Save. Select a saved calendar and choose Remove selected, then Save, to disconnect it. Their events share one chronological agenda with duplicate occurrences filtered out. Healthy calendars continue syncing if another feed is unavailable.

Choose what appears

Open the gear inside Floatlet. Show calls controls microphone activity visibility and monitoring. Icon-only music keeps the resting capsule smaller, and Reduce motion limits animations. For supported call apps, Open call app brings their native controls forward.
