FLOATLET / FLOATLET SEARCH FOR WINDOWS
Floatlet Search for Windows
An app and file launcher for Windows. See how Search works, what it needs and what is available today.
One shortcut for apps, files and commands
Floatlet Search opens with your chosen shortcut. Type an app name, a file name or a containing folder. Matching applications rank above file and folder results. Existing windows and Floatlet commands can also appear.
What provides file results?
Choose Everything or Floatlet local indexing in Search preferences. Floatlet can index selected personal folders or local fixed drives with bounded background work. Index coverage depends on the selected locations.
Keep useful files close
- Enter opens the selected result.
- Shift+Enter adds a file reference to Floatlet and closes Search.
- Ctrl+Enter collects a reference and keeps Search open.
- Tab opens actions including Reveal in File Explorer, Copy file and Copy path.
- Escape closes Search.
What if I already use Flow Launcher?
Floatlet does not take a registered shortcut from another app. If Flow Launcher owns Alt+Space, choose another shortcut in Floatlet Search preferences or use the island's context menu. You can also disable Search.
Multiple monitors and accessibility
The design places Search in the active pointer's display work area and scales it for that screen. It follows a stable pointer move while open, except during a drag or action menu. Reduced motion and Windows high contrast are supported in code. The redesign has passed local visual checks. Live pointer-following across multiple monitors still needs device-specific verification.
What stays private?
Search queries and search history are not sent to a server or saved to disk. The worker waits when there is no request, cancels obsolete results and uses bounded in-memory caches. The website demo uses invented results and never searches your computer.
